A new paper published in the British Medical Journal, says that high levels of chocolate consumption are associated with significant decrease in the risk of developing heart disease. The researchers said that out of seven existing studies they analyzed five reported a beneficial association between higher levels of chocolate consumption and the risk of cardiometabolic disorders.
The highest levels of chocolate consumption were associated with a 37% reduction in cardiovascular and a 29% reduction in stroke. However, before you become a chocoholic you should know that other factors are more important for a healthy heart such as exercise and proper diet – The Nature Seychelles Green health program is a great example. Chocolates are high in calories which could lead to weight gain and diabetes. If the fat and sugar content of over the counter chocolate could be reduced, it would be safer, the researchers say.
